IGN Changing The Game.
IGN Entertainment is a leading online media company focused on gaming and entertainment. Among the company's many media properties, the online portal IGN.com is their flagship offering. Launched in 1996, IGN.com is the #1 online destination for gaming. The challenge to ATTIK was twofold; develop a new corporate identity for IGN Entertainment that reflects the parent company's leadership in reaching an 18-34 male demographic, and to refresh the consumer-facing IGN.com logo and visual system to bring it in line with the modern gaming industry.
We began by evolving the existing IGN.com icon and letterforms, being careful not to alienate the brand’s existing gamer audience. The evolution was grounded in the iconic 'D-pad' used in game controllers, with reworked letterforms giving the brand a more contemporary edge. The new IGN Entertainment logo utilized the custom IGN letterforms developed for IGN.com to create a visual link between the brands, while maintaining a more formal B2B feel to heighten the company's credibility with potential partners. Both brands were launched in December 2009 via an updated website and nationwide events. The new IGN identities form a cohesive system that defines the flagship and corporate brands, setting the stage for future expansion.
